Spaceport America

Join us for Spaceport America, presented by Mike Miller, HDR Senior Project Manager.  HDR has teamed with Gerald Martin Construction, Albuquerque, to provide construction management services for the new Spaceport America near Las Cruces, NM.  Spaceport America is the world's first purpose-built commercial spaceport, overseen by the New Mexico Spaceport Authority (NMSA).  The Spaceport America project is a combined effort of the State of New Mexico and Virgin Galactic (VG).  VG, the world's first commercial spaceline company is owned and established by Richard Branson's Virgin Group.  Virgin Galactic will own and operate its privately built spaceships that will allow affordable sub-orbital space flights.  The project includes a 100,000 sf terminal hangar facility as well as airfield (runway, taxiway, and apron) internal roadways, water supply and distribution system, wastewater collection and treatment system, on-site electrical distribution system, aircraft rescue and fire fighting station, and a fuel storage facility.

Specifying Successful Ceramic & Stone Tile Installations:  Beyond TCA and ANSI 

Join us for Specifying Successful Ceramic and Stone Tiles Installations: Beyond TCA (Tile Council of America) and ANSI, presented by Jim Whitfield FCSI, CCPR, CTC, LEED AP, Technical Manager for Mer-Krete Systems, a division of ParexLahabra, Inc.  This program will discuss how to properly specify a successful installation of ceramic and stone tiles.  The focus of the program will be the industry standards; TCA (Tile Council of America) and ANSI (American National Standard for Installation of Ceramic Tile) handbooks, changes in the TCA 2009, ANSI 2008 and the new 2009 ANSI A137.1 Standard for Ceramic Tile and beyond. The discussion will expand on industry standards, labors input and will include definitions.

Designing for Moisture Protection in Masonry Walls

Join us for Designing for Moisture Protection in Masonry Walls, presented by Jacob Wipf, Architectural Representative for Basalite Concrete Products LLC - Denver.  This program will focus on the effects of moisture penetration in masonry walls and how to prevent the damage due to water infiltration.  Crack control as a means of moisture egress will be discussed.
